We dedicate this journal to the memories of my dear colleagues Assist.Prof. Ahmet ZENGİN and Assist.Prof. Metin ÇOBAN, who had adhered to the above maxim of our great founder, and had not lived long enough to convey their knowledge to future generations.

Our mission is to convey the Social Sciences Journal of Zonguldak Karaelmas University, that newly entered the publishing field, to the place where it deserves to be in the scientific life in accordance with the dynamic body of our university. We believe that our journal will be another success amongst many that our university has achieved so far, and that it will be a light on the road which science progresses. Our journal which will be periodically published will grow by reaching more readers and authors in the course of time and continue its activities in social sciences field through the supply of academic articles in science and technology.

After the first issue, our journal will continue to be published biannually as a scientifically refereed journal. Manuscripts are welcomed anytime and articles and analyses that were not published elsewhere and are completely original will be forwarded to the members of editorial board that we select. Publishing process will be started for the articles which were agreed to be published after the completion of the referee process.

In this first issue of the Social Sciences Journal, I thank to Prof.Dr. Bektaş AÇIKGÖZ, who is the rector of Zonguldak Karaelmas Universty, and provides full support to our journal, to referees who are very careful in their reviews, to scientists who enhance the quality of our journal with their papers, and to everybody who contributes to the publishing process of our journal.
