From Rector;

             As we believe in the philosophy that the universities are the contemporary educational institutions where science and reason prevail and scientific knowledge is produced for the sake of humanity, we attach importance to the publications of our university considering the transfer of knowledge to the next generations.

            Zonguldak Karaelmas University was established in 1992. In a short period of time, it earned its place it merited thank to the scientific work done by its vigorous staff and it will continue to merit its position. Our university; with its contemporaneous, advanced, and dynamic outlook, is resolved to go beyond and constantly to carry further the goal of contributing to the human resources of our country. For this purpose, in our university, the 2004-2005 educational year was announced as “The Year of Academic Rising”.

            Zonguldak Karaelmas University aims at perpetuating in the science world through its scientific research as well as its publications. In this framework, the first issue of The Social Sciences Journal is published in order to publicize the results of researches by scientists, to transfer the culture to the next generations by putting it in a written format and motivate the researchers by publishing their work.

            Because of my faith in that scientific knowledge advance only when it is shared by academic circles and society as a whole, I think that The Social Sciences Journal will help to deepen the researches in social sciences. I believe that The Social Sciences Journal is going to provide a scientific source in constituting a society, who can critically evaluate, question, and reason the ideas and assertions brought to it, and most importantly a society who can solve problems with creative thinking.

           I would like to thank to the Dean Prof.Dr. Güven Murat and the other faculty who contributed to the first issue and my co-workers who helped in publishing the first issue of The Social Sciences Journal which is issued in memory of our valuable faculty members Assistant Professor Ahmet ZENGİN and Assistant Professor Metin ÇOBAN whose bitter losses we witnessed with deep grief in the way for realizing this purpose.
